Hi all! I think that this question has come up before, but I want to work on a few transcriptions and at the moment I need to be able to hear and play them at a slower speed.
Can anyone recommend an easy to use piece of software that slows down cd's without altering the actual pitch of the piece? Also, will the software work on mp3's as I have lot of files on my pc that I have downloaded that I don't own on cd.

Thanks in advance.

Dazz -

I don't have all the details handy, but I recommend installing the WinAmp free media player

www.winamp.com

and then check out the "plugins" page on WinAmp's website (I think there is a link specifically for "DSP plugins")

One is named Chronotron, and there are actually several available now. They don't distort the pitch (well, not "too" much, anyway), but they give it kind of a "mechanical" sound.

I'm on a Mac and use Transcribe for the transcriptions I do for Drum!. I've used Transkriber too and have been told Amazing Slow Downer is good.

Dazz.... I use slowgold all the time. It only slows down wav files, but there is a built in converter if you put in an mp3.
